Dear Laurie, Sorry for delay in this reply. Your English is excellent. I've been on vacation with my family the last four weeks - my first extended vacation in six years. The farmers are getting three-four times what they would get otherwise. They are still in the process of organizing as a cooperative, so we have carried some of their expense - training, quality control, facilitation of organization etc. At retail Thanksgiving gets about about 40% and we get about 60% of a donation from Thanksgiving. At wholesale, we get a much smaller percentage of the price as a donation and that percentage depends on wholesale price and quantity according a formula we have worked out in advance. Hello, I am French coed and I write a report about Laos as a whole and more specifically on the fair trade. I would like to have more informations about the price of your coffee (who gains how much? farmers, foundation, Thanksgiving, others?) and also, the date of the first coffee exports in the United States. Have you encountered problems at the time of your coffee forwardings? Which are the principal difficulties which you encounter on the ground with the coffee farmers?
